We’ve had a busy start to the festive season this year, and rightly so. The sun has been shining down on Bath and shoppers and locals alike have been relaxing at Riverside over breakfast, lunch or an afternoon illy coffee and homemade cake before hitting the shops.
We still have a while to go before Christmas but festive cheer is plentiful at Riverside. We have a Christmas specials menu that runs from midday every day:
* Hot roast turkey roll with smoked bacon, chestnut stuffing and cranberry chutney, served with crispy potato wedges
* Slow cooked venison casserole with port, shallots, mushrooms and thyme served with green beans and new potatoes
* Stilton, bacon and walnut salad with roasted cherry tomatoes, rocket and beetroot chutney
* Baked field mushroom topped with melted brie and homemade cranberry sauce, served with crushed new potatoes and green beans
* Lamb and rosemary burger topped with homemade tomato chutney, served with seasoned potato wedges
These specials are running alongside our regular menu, which includes the Riverside Caesar salad, lentil burger, chicken and chorizo ciabatta and goats cheese salad served on crostini
We are open until late afternoon so join us for a glass of wine, local ale or cider while enjoying a great view from our al fresco seating area. Come down for a light bite, a home made cake or dessert, or a superb illy coffee or Tea House Emporium tea. We have blonde and dark Christmas ales from Box Steam Brewery, which are £4 each. We also have a Box Steam gift set, with three beers of you choice for £12, or buy two sets for £20 – the perfect Christmas present
If ever there were a time to celebrate and support local independent businesses, it is now.
Here at Riverside we pride ourselves on our hearty home-cooked breakfasts: tasty smoked salmon benedict; vegetarian breakfast complete with bubble and squeak cakes, and American pancakes with bacon and maple syrup, a true classic.
To start the day we serve illy coffee and Tea House Emporium tea, as well as a selection of fresh cakes and puddings. Alongside our classic carrot cake, chocolate brownies, apple and almond cake, we are trying out a few gluten-free alternatives that are just as appetising.
At lunch we offer an array of sandwiches served on Hobbs House ciabatta, tasty salads, home made beef burgers and lentil burgers that are topped with tangy Riverside tomato chutney. Our menu also boasts haddock from St Mawes in Cornwall, as well as their delicious mussels that we serve in a traditional white wine, cream and garlic broth, that comes with crusty bread or fries.
In our prime location overlooking one of Bath’s most photographed landmarks, Pulteney Weir, we are the perfect place to while away the afternoon with a bottle of zingy New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc, Australian Shiraz, Prosecco, Champagne, local ale or cider. Box Steam Brewery is a firm favourite: we have Derail Ale – an India Pale Ale ideal for summer – Chuffin’ Ale, and Dark and Handsome.
We are open seven days a week and serve breakfast from 9am-11.30am and lunch from 12 o’clock until late afternoon.
